Looks like somebody already found a multiscreen work around https://www.macrumors.com/2020/11/24/m1-macs-able-to-run-six-external-displays/

Looks like the workaround was “achieved using DisplayLink adapters”

Oh yea.... just adapters on a dock

So that said, why would they say it is not supported if it can be simply fixed by adding adapters.

Agreed, seems like they shot themselves in the foot here haha

The downside with these solutions is that the OS usually sees it as one GIANT display vs separate displays. Don’t plan to full screen anything and kiss easy window snapping goodbye.

yikes, didn't realize that... so this is different that the way a Mac that supports external displays while using an adapter would function?

The multi display adapters (one cable from the computer into a box to feed multiple displays) have worked that way for 10+ years

I guess I haven’t tried on TB3 so maybe I am wrong. I would like to be wrong.

I hope you are wrong, in the video he showed system preferences for apple > display . it appears to presented itself as multiple screens

Displaylink has broken due to macOS upgrades multiple times in the past, they do fix it but it's something to be aware of
